District Director’s Message – Dr. William Lau, DTM (Deepavali)

Deepavali nalvazhthukkal,
I bring a special message for all my beloved Hindu friends and fellow Toastmasters in District 102 and other Districts on this special Festival of Lights which falls on Tuesday, November 06, 2018. The festival which is popularly known as Diwali or Deepavali is celebrated by all Hindus throughout the world. Diwali is a story of JOY and PROSPERITY. It symbolises the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance“.

In Malaysia, Deepavali is a public holiday – not only for the Hindus but for all people of goodwill and religions. It is a day where people from all walks of life jointly celebrate with their Hindu relatives and friends. The celebration starts early before dawn on the day of Deepavali and it may stretch way after sunset. The best of culinary Hindu delights beckon one to partake in the celebration.

In most mainstream religions, light represents knowledge and wisdom. May the divine light of Diwali shine upon your face and exhort you to internalize your past wrong-doings and weaknesses and strive to neutralize them so that you may emerge transformed to become better human beings in serving humanity.

Towards the progress and betterment of all my fellow Toastmasters and friends, may I wish you and family “Selamat Deepavali”. May you be blessed with joy, happiness and prosperity in the years ahead.

Nandri, vanakkam.

Much love,

Dr. William Lau, DTM
District 102 Director
