District Director’s Message – Dr. William Lau, DTM (March 2019)

A Dash to the Finishing Line

We are now just less than 4 months from the finishing line. It is time for us to take stock of where we stand at this moment so that we can strategize on what and how we can do to complete our term in pride, dignity and honor on 30 June 2019.

To date, we have chartered 8 new clubs and we just need three or eight more clubs to meeting the Distinguished and President’s District goal respectively.

Membership build-up has been encouraging for the past 7 months and our paid membership strength as at 7 Mar 2019 stands at 3638; of which, 2672 were attributed to the last October 2018 renewal and 966 to new members joining the District on or after 1 Nov 2018.

To achieve the President’s Distinguished District goal, barring against any attrition we shall need to ensure that the 2672 members submit their renewal by the end of this month, 31 Mar 2019.

Looking at the statistics, the journey to 30 June 2019 looks quite attainable. We must try to up the figure to 4000 by March 2019 ending in anticipation of possible non-renewals.

All Division and Area Directors shall endeavor to ensure that there shall not be any club loss as at 31 Mar 2019. Please encourage your clubs that are short of 1 DCP point but less than the required 20 membership strength or short of the required 5+ net membership growth to meet the DCP eligibility criteria.

As the DECM and the DCM are forth-coming, it is equally important to leave your Division and Areas just as strong as you have established during your term. Please make sure you have your SUCCESSION Plan in place.

With the foregoing thoughts, I wish all of you good health, co-operation and hard work to ensure we attain our set District mission goals.

Dr. William Lau, DTM
District 102 Director
