Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District leader:
I have worked as Project Engineer / Marketing Manager in Oil & Gas Industry for more than 12 years managing projects throughout Malaysia.
It required working with teams throughout the country and communicating with vendors locally and suppliers from different parts of the world.
I was Chairman for Shell LCSC (Local Contractors Safety Council) for Shell Malaysia Retail Contractors for Malaysia which included planning Safety Trainings and communication meetings between Contractors, Consultants and Shell Malaysia Engineering Team in Malaysia.
I am certified HRDF Trainer which enables me to organize Quality Training Programs with training the trainer for the workshops, Club Officer Training and building training programs for the benefit of members and club officers.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?
As a Project Engineer, I was involved in planning the projects to be run throughout the country in various states communicating with teams in every part of Malaysia and managing those projects taught me to communicate effectively and work with people of various background and positions for effective results.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?
As a Project Engineer & Marketing Manager, my work involved forecast of expenses, sales, budgets and work towards achieving it.
I was overseeing Financial transactions for all my projects and creating reports when required.
Being a Founder & Director of Environmental Engineering Consulting company, I manage the sales and operations while overseeing finances of the company.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?
As a Safety Coordinator and later Chairman of Safety Council, i was involved in developing safety procedures for the worker to supervisors and implementation via trainings and various communication channels for Shell Contractors in Malaysia.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?
Build a Strong Team and continually work with them to achieve the results.
Communication is a Key for Leadership.
Delegation to right people and empowering them matters for effective results leading them to rise up and become leaders.

Why do you want to serve as a District leader?
I believe in servant leadership wherein we serve to raise leaders and inspire people to follow their passion in toastmasters and helping them to achieve their goals.
As a District Leader, It will be an honor to work with a bigger team and opportunity to inspire servant leadership in entire District.

In your opinion, what are the District mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?
Club Leaders who are well trained will be able to lead well and take care of their members.
This will lead to better quality meetings, quality clubs and an amazing District which in blooming with leaders.
I believe in Awareness, Education & programs which will benefit members. Satisfied members stay back and step up to make a difference in others.

Additional information about yourself:
I joined Toastmasters to be on a platform in improving my Speaking Skills and then was introduced to Leadership part of it.
First 2 years as a District Officer, I served to learn and assist where i am needed. The joy of seeing leaders growing has kept me going in different positions or roles irrespective of official credits or titles.
As a Passionate Speaker, taking part in Contest helped me to grow as a Speaker. I want to share with more people the benefits of being a Toastmaster and enabling them to become a better leader, a better speaker.
