Repost: Let’s Walk the Talk by CP Lau, DTM

This message originally appeared in the November 2019 edition of District 102 newsletter.

CP Lau, DTMIn Toastmasters, we serve with the principle of the four core values, Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence (IRSE). Our Senior District Officers, District Officers, Club Officers as well as our members, who embarked on this lifelong learning journey have demonstrated great achievements.

Whether it is a delivery of a speech, organizing on events, workshops or contests, I am very glad that all are done excellently; all are done to serve the members; all are done with respect and integrity.

I have had an opportunity to meet up with a few division councils in discussing on their progress since the term commenced. I could see how well the principle of these core values being applied in discussing the issues, possible solutions.

Fellow members, we know how exciting this journey can be. Of course, we also know how challenging this journey can be. Quoting the address by our District Administration Manager, Aaron Chan, DTM, “Building Others”. Let’s build others with IRSE!

We learned the principle of IRSE values in Toastmasters. We applied the principle of IRSE values in Toastmasters. Fellow members, is that all we want? Let’s bring the IRSE values into our career, our families and the community!

Our founder, Dr Ralph C. Smedley said, “Ours is the only organization I know dedicated to the individual, we work together to bring out the best in each of us and then we apply these skills to help others.”

Let us walk the talk! Let the best values of Toastmasters be introduced to more people!
