Hidden but not Forgotten Heroes – Safura Atan the Power Lady of Shah Alam Toastmasters Club
DTM Safura Atan is a bubbly go-getter and second time around VPE of the Shah Alam Toastmasters Club. Her wicked jokes and contagious smiles would light up every meeting at the SATMC. I jumped at the opportunity to show my gratitude to her in this brand new year.
As a VPE, Safura monitors each member’s progress and never fails to share the joy of each member’s achievement. She is an elegantly persuasive VPE whom you will find difficult to turn down when she nudges you gently to play a role out of your comfort zone. As strong believer in life-long learning, she leads by example by quickly acquiring the skills to be a competent Zoom master, when virtual meetings became the new norm.
When Safura speaks to you, it is like she has known you for ages. Somehow she knows your fears and feels your anxieties, yet every conversation will always end with a new-found confidence in yourself that will make you take the next leap of action.
When asked what is her magic, she replied : “That’s sharing knowledge WITH EMPATHY” and that I learned from her over a virtual cuppa.
Thank you, Safura for making learning-to-communicate relaxing and fun.
